NLSA PROVIDES MULTIPLE PATHWAYS TOWARD THE HIGHEST LEVELS OF THE SPORT.
We see player development as a marathon not a sprint. Players develop physically, mentally, technically, and tactically at different times in their playing careers. Our technical staff is one of the most experienced in the area and we have a professional curriculum designed to help players of all ages and abilities reach their individual and team goals. The player they are today is not the player they will be in a week, month, a year from now. We believe in creating an environment in which all players have NO FEAR, NO LIMITS. |
U13 to U19: No Limits to your success...
WE now turn the focus to showcasing our players and learning how to apply what they have learned previously to compete at a Regional & National level. NLSA is committed to preparing players to transition from youth soccer to the college game. As a NYCFC youth partner our players will be selected to specific MLS talent ID events. NLSA provides a Collegiate Pathway for all NLSA student-athletes currently enrolled in high school grades 9th-12th. Our objective is to provide information and guidance to every player who wants to play soccer at the collegiate level. NLSA coaches have accumulated over the years an extensive collegiate network. Many of our coaches are directly linked to the high school and collegiate soccer environment developing relationships that certainly benefit our NLSA soccer athletes and families. EXAMPLES OF HOW NLSA WILL ASSIST OUR PLAYERS AND FAMILIES - Help organize player profiles both in print and online. - Contact college coaches personally. - Families will have access to a shared platform to communicate and upload their personal recruiting information that will be tracked by coaching staff. - Advice on selecting best-fit colleges. - Write letters of recommendation. - Guide player/family with application process & much much more... |
From U11 to U12: Making the Jump
Players become more serious about the game but is it important to continue establishing a solid base of technique. Develop individual skills under the pressure of time, space and opponent(s) and increase technical speed. While passing has become a more natural part of the game, the dribbling personality must still be encouraged to express that skill. This age group, we will concentrate on the application of age appropriate activities, placing an emphasis on individual possession and defending. This means more work on combining players in pairs and small groups to defend and attack The emphasis will be to challenge players both technically and tactically while preparing them to transition to the next level. Player ID sessions at U12 are offered throughout the year to transition into the next level. |
Develop and Win: U8 - U10
Our mission at NLSA is to help players grow their technical skills and ‘Soccer IQ’ while ensuring the ‘love’ for the game is growing equally. Player development is the focus rather than results. "Develop and Win". Winning at all costs means just that, there are COSTS..Players are placed on teams based on their ability, so they are continually challenged. At this age, we will NOT sacrifice short term Wins for Long Term Development. The purpose of our Academy is to introduce our young athletes to travel soccer, introduce our athletes to a more committed and competitive atmosphere, offer extra training by qualified trainers and help guide and develop all individuals preparing your child for the path they will endure, not create it for them. Winning is important, but development is more important. We will develop the winning mentality though as we certainly hope to see kids take ownership of their own technical development. Development is not a straight line. Ups will come with downs, and development does not mean constant, unchecked progression. Develop and win. One comes before the other, and for good reason. |
